Session 0 & 1 design

On Thursday October 31st, 2024 we established when this game will take place when it comes to Session flow. We decided the first session is ideal for the students to integrate the previous emotion-awareness they acquired by watching the film Inside out.

The sessions 0 and 1 will be structured as follow:


Session 0. Introduction, movie, presentation

  1. Teacher will explain the structure and the process of this learning situation to students, as well as the "final product".

  2. After the introduction, we will watch a part of the film "Inside out" on the digital board. This will engage students and place them within the context of the whole learning situation they will be developing during the following weeks.

  3. To make sure they identified the emotions, a presentation with questions will take place for the teacher to see if the students have any trouble recognizing them.


Session 1. An activity during this session is Bee-bots board game


  1. For students to make connections among emotions they acknowledge and the ones that actually exist we will use the Bee-Bot game, so the teacher will begin the session and the teacher will explain the rules of the game.


The rules and materials needed for the game:


Materials:

  • Gameboard in which there are at least 18 emotions, each one in an individual square.

  • Cards with situations written on them (E.g. your mother gives you a present, it starts raining and you don't have an umbrella with you, etc.)

  • Bee-bots

  • A dice


Rules/ Instructions:


  1. Divide the class in five groups of five children each

  2. In groups, every member will take turns to roll a dice.

  3. Then they will pick a situation card

  4. Depending on the number they got on the dice, they will get more or less movements for the bee-bot to move around the board. (One point on the dice is equal to just pressing the bee-bot moving button one time, Five points equals to five movements of the bee-bot, etc)

  5. The situation cards will contain situations that children will have to act up according to the feeling the square in which they placed the bee-bot contains.

  6. After the acting of the player, the next one will get his/her turn: Roll the dice, pick a card, move the bee-bot, act!


The draft of the game board will be:

The draft of the cards will be:

8.I'm going to accompany my grandmother to do the shopping.

14.Tomorrow we are going on a field trip to the farm school.

15. Today I'm playing outdoors
